Broa de Fubá, or Brazilian Corn Cake, is a traditional baked treat that has been enjoyed in Brazilian kitchens for generations. Hailing from Portuguese culinary influences, this cornmeal-based cake is a staple during festivals, family gatherings, and cozy afternoon teas. Its slightly sweet, tender crumb and rustic texture reflect the simplicity and comfort of Brazilian home baking, making it a beloved snack or dessert across the country.

In this recipe, cornmeal is combined with eggs, sugar, milk, and butter to create a moist, slightly dense batter that is flavored with subtle notes of vanilla or citrus zest. The cake is baked until golden, developing a lightly crisp crust and a soft, crumbly interior. Some versions include a touch of anise or cheese for added flavor, while others keep it simple to highlight the natural sweetness and earthy flavor of the cornmeal.

Perfect for breakfast, afternoon tea, or as a snack with coffee, Broa de Fubá is easy to prepare and wonderfully versatile. Its comforting texture and mild sweetness make it appealing to both children and adults, while its rustic charm reflects the heart of Brazilian culinary tradition. This classic corn cake is a delightful example of how humble ingredients can create a deeply satisfying, timeless treat.
